Couple Card

Hello Everyone.  Sorry I have not been posting much lately.  I have been feeling under the weather and had no energy to spare for getting on the computer.

I do hope everyone had a wonderful holiday with family and friends.  We got a bit of a blizzard here on the east coast and not sure what will be open and what will be closed today.  Keep warm out there.  :)

Today I am posting a anniversary card for my sister-in-law and her husband.  Happy Anniversary to them!

Painting Another Box for a boy

First I started by taking off all the hardware on the box to get it ready for painting.

Next,  I painted the box a cherry red.  I needed to add two to three more colors.  The colors chosen were green, orange and white.  Using the three colors orange, green and white I decorated the top of the box with various sizes of circles.  Once that was all dry the whole box was given several layers of varnish.

Now it is ready to go under the tree!

Pink Jewelry Box

This year I wanted to give my family members things I made.  A painted jewelry box is one of the things I wanted to make as a gift.  Painting free hand is not the easiest thing to do for me but I did my best.  Hopefully, the present will be well recieved.

First, I found this box at my local craft store.  The person that is receiving this box loves pink so that became the base color. Then I free handed little flowers and designs on the box.  Once that dried it was time to varnish the box so it would be protected.

We decided to add glitter to the varnish because the receiver wanted it to be glittery!

I have a few more items to make so have a great day!

Christmas Card time.......

I am finishing up the last of my Christmas Cards for the season.  Most of them have been mailed and it is one more thing that can be checked off the list.  *Sigh*  The next thing that needs to be checked off the list is tags for the presents.

I am just waiting on my friend Bernadette's die cuts she made me to arrive in the mail.  I ordered Santa and Mrs. Claus head die cuts from her ebay store "Brockadoodle Treasures". As soon as those arrive I can get that task done and cross another item off my list.  Thanks B!

The die cut comes with a cute die cut saying "Santa Thinks I'm Nice" which makes a great saying for the inside of the card.

I love to create tags at Christmas time to add to the top of a present.  Adding a colorful tag under a beautiful ribbon can really dress up a present.

It lets the person know you really think they are special!  Besides creating Christmas cards for family and friends this year I will be creating special tags for all the Christmas presents we will be giving out.

What do you do to make your presents look special?  This tag was created for the Pink Cat Studio Holiday Challenge here.

Wall Decorations

I need some wall art for the bathroom so I decide to make my own.  I bought several 8 by 10 inch canvases and decided to paint one plum to see how it looked once done.

It looks pretty good so far don't you think.  In the picture it looks hot pink but it is really plum.

It needs a little more decoration before it can be called wall art so using a new product I found at my local craft store I painted some of the FolkArt textured paint over a small stencil.

The color texture paint I used is called snow white.  It really pops off the plum colored paint. The paint is really thick and creates great dimension on the canvas.

I need to make a few more of the painted canvases to hang on the wall and this one needs to be sealed.  I will update with pictures as soon as they are all completed.  This one might need some more embellishments.  I haven't decide yet.  Do you like things with a lot of bling or just somewhat plain and simple?  Either way homemade is the best!

Stamped Christmas Ornament

Ok today we will be making a stamped christmas ornament.  To make this ornament we need fabric, a pencil, a cup, wreath stamp, two ink pads, ribbon, fiberfill, needle, thread, sewing machine and viva decor red.

First, I traced a cup onto fabric.  The fabric I used is an unbleached muslin.

Time to cut out the circles.  Cut outside your drawn pencil line.

Now we are ready to stamp on the fabric.  I used a wreath hero arts stamp and two stazon ink colors, olive green and cactus green.

Stamp the image once with each color to give the wreath some depth.  Then iron the fabric to heat set the ink.

Sew right sides together leaving a small opening to turn the fabric right sides out.  Then stuff the ornament with fiberfill. I used 100% polyester fiberfill.

Sew the small opening closed with a red ribbon sewn in place while closing the opening.  Make a bow out of the same ribbon and sew it to the wreath.

Finally, use viva decor red to place dots on the wreath to look like holly fruit.

You have a beautiful ornament to decorate your tree with for the holidays.  Send one to a friend.  They make a great gift.  After all, they are handmade by you.  :)

Pom Pom Flower

Today I will show you how to make this fun flower embellishment.

First you need a leaf punch to punch out two leaves from green cardstock.
I used the Martha Stewart leaf punch to make mine.

Next, you need a one inch circle punch to make eight circles.  I used the one inch Martha Stewart scalloped circle punch.  The scalloped circle adds just a little more dimension to the flower but a regular circle punch will work just fine.

Ok, you have your two leaves, eight circles and now you need a tool to pierce paper
plus one brad to hold the circles together.

Stack the eight circles and use the tool to pierce through all eight layers.  Once you have your hole in the center of all eight circles put the brad through the hole and spread the wings of the brad on the back to hold the eight circles in place.

Now to start making the circles look like a flower.  One layer at a time squish up the paper around the brad top to create the look of the petals on a flower.

Work through all eight layers until you get something that looks like the flower below.

For the leaves, you need to pull off the stems, then to create dimension on the leaf pinch the tip of the leaf.

Last, add a glue dot to the bottom of the flower and stick the end of the leaves not pinched to the flower.  Fluff the flower petals until it looks the way you like it and then add them to your favorite card or layout.

Let me know what you did with your pom pom flowers.
